First Aid for Film and TV - Appointed Persons

A comprehensive and fun 1 day course for those who work in the Film & TV industry. First Aid for Film & TV provides a good basic insight into First Aid procedures and skills, with special attention paid to injuries and illnesses that can occur when participating in filming activities both on location and in the studio.

 

 


Course Overview

Hands-on practical exercises help candidates learn basic life support skills and improves their chances of coping in an emergency.

On completion of the course candidates will be able to look after the first aid needs of up to 50 people (depending on the risk assessment).

The course is taught by our Chief Instructor who is a Producer / Director with seven years industry experience in feature films, TV dramas, documentaries, corporate films and commercials. She is also an HSE accredited First Aid at Work Instructor.

Who is it for?

This course meets the minimum First Aid requirement for most low and medium risk filming activities, and is recognised by many leading industry employers, eg BBC, ITV etc.

The course is ideal for anyone who participates in any form of Film & TV activity including producers, production staff, runners, sparks, cameramen, lone workers and post production staff.

  • Assessing a casualty
  • CPR & rescue breathing
  • Maintaining First Aid Kits
  • Wounds & bleeding
  • Burns
  • Head injuries
  • Eye Injuries
  • Chemical Poisoning
  • Electrocution
  • Hypothermia, heat stroke, heat exhaust.

Areas such as epilepsy, diabetes and drowning etc can also be included by request

Course Objectives

By the end of the course the candidates will be able to:

  • Recognise and appropriately treat most emergency situations including those specific to the Film & TV industry
  • Give emergency First Aid to an injured person until medical assistance arrives
  • Carry out the duties of an Appointed Person as specified within the First Aid Regulations.

Assessment

There is as assessment and as a result each delegate will receive a certificate which is valid for 2 years.

1 day – 0930 - 1730
